Get your hands on a FREE SQL Server 2008 Account!

I randomly bumped into this site today, www.sqlserverbeta.com and was blown away by the offering... FREE RDP access to your very own SQL Server 2008 account to go and frolic!

There are a lot of new features in SQL Server 2k8 that should make a brow raise on even the staunchest DBA's and developers out there so it is worth the look!

"So set your sights on the horizon and take advantage of this chance to play with real-world technology before it hits the mainstream - test it with your real-world data, with your own custom scenarios, while it's still under development. This is your chance to influence the product that you use every day - in a secure, hosted working environment."

Take a look at this co-sponsored endeavor and get your hands dirty and play!

It is important to note that Dell, Intel, and MaximumASP are all making this possible! Thanks folks!

UPDATE: Remember, this is of course running on Windows 2008 Server as well, so you can additionally poke around a little as well! :)

Tip & Tricks: SQL script text formatting

I was working in SQL Server Management Studio, one of my home's away from home and I noticed a little trick. Being the overly anal type about formatting in code, I typically keep all SQL keywords in upper case and all other items in sync with their real casing.

Loving keyboard shortcuts more than the average Joe and Jane, I stumbled up a nice little diddy.

Ctrl+Shift+ L will change all selected text to lower case, while

Ctrl+Shift+U will change all selected text to upper case.

Handy little shortcut tip o' da day!

Enjoy!
